I want to upload files without testing the destination for time stamp or file size. Same for download, I just want it copied.

I'm not sure I got it right. Do you mean that the repository is commited from something else but your development machine?

The project I have in mind is 1 developer, so in this case no, the development machine is the only one committing unless I do some work on my laptop. My problem is that if I do initial testing on the development machine's working copy, something like a file will be uploaded while testing a file upload system and that will get committed, or the test install would need one config file while the development copy would have the clean, uncustomised version.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean, and what I would be forced to do if I were to do basic testing on the same code as several people are developing - if they can't upload across a network like I want. On larger projects informal testing would be impossible as someone would have a non-parsing script somewhere that only had half a function written.

It occurs to me that I could commit my development and then check out a copy for Apache to test on, but this isn't suitable. My svn server is slow for a start. It would also mean committing, finding you missed a semicolon and having to commit again, which goes against my commit philosophy of only committing when a milestone, however small, is reached.

I do not see any files like that with the PhpEd install I have. Only dbg-3.2.2-Linux and I have installed Debugger dbg.so-5.2.x as per the server configuration I have above.

This usually means that the MySQL PHP extension isn't loaded. Create a php file with phpinfo(); in it, its output should included references to mysql. If not, check your php.ini file (the phpinfo output will tell you where to find it) and make sure that there is a line extension=php_mysql.dll (or .so if you're on linux) in the file. If you made any changes to it you'll have to restart the webserver.

My problem is a little bit different from most. My executables works fine in browsers like Internet Explorer but does not work in NuSphere PhpED's browser; I get the following errors like the following: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect(). I want to use the debugger but I can�t because of the errors.
Please help!

I installed new NuSphere Releases (first Build 5237 and now Build 5238). I do not know when it happened, but in Internet Explorer 6 (running under Windows Server 2003) suddenly the Nusphere IE Toolbar is not visible anymore. It was there in previous PhpED releases! Also the entry in View/Toolbar menu and in IE's toolbar context menu for NuSphere is not visible anymore. I tried to uninstall the NuSphere Toolbar and to reinstall (full installation) PhpED, but it didn't help. Maybe the toolbar does not install fully because after full installation I don't see the entry in System Settings/Software List. But in IE 6 I do see that NuSphere Toolbar is loaded and activated under menu Extras/Add ons but there is no place to make the toolbar visible.

I have no security tool like an antivirus program running.

The registry entry "HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Toolbar" with name="{0F62D223-9206-4EA3-9EA8-D0F3C7C82ACA}", type="REG_BINARY" and value="00" is there.

I also tried to register the dll manually (with command "regsvr32 C:\Programme\nusphere\phped\NuSphereIEBar.dll", this told me it was successfully), but this didn't solve the problem.

The only thing, that has changed on the server: we changed our network to use Microsoft Active Directory. So maybe it is a question of user rights? I am a local administrator on the machine itself. As I mentioned I got no error during full install, maybe there is a install log file somewhere showing more info about an possible install problem?

Please help, I need the toolbar for debugging.

I have a second install on a notebook running Vista Business. There almost everything works. The only thing I notice her is that I see Version 5.2 (build 5234) in "About NuSphere Toolbar" even though I installed Build 5238!

Hehe, I usually rename the file upon saving it so it contains the build number as I like to keep multiple versions anyway :p
But agreed, having this done from the start would be easier

Well during testing, things get changed - configuration files, uploaded files. Inevitably these get committed to the repository, not a big deal but it's messy. Also incomplete code can be executed as half a function could be written and saved while you go and chase a bug reported in other code, causing all kinds of parse errors and crashes - you'd probably have to save the new work, commit, 'update' to an earlier build and start chasing the bug.

With them separate, I can be sure that the test server usually has executable, usable code on it. Together, parse errors will plague testing. This is especially important if two people are working on it over Windows Networking. We'd have to both edit the same working copy, negating the multi-developer advantages of source control.

aloha,

the last day some builds have been released. And to be honest, I forget which one I downloaded. So I tried to find out what version I have, but it didn't work out since I can't find the build number anywhere in the file (yes I know, the splash screen shows, but you don't see the splash screen until you installed the packet).

Hence my suggestion: Please add the build number to the file name or the file descriptor. Something like: "NuSphere-phped-5.2-Win32-b0000.exe" would be great. Another option could be to add the build to the file descriptor. At the moment I can read there:

"
File Version: 0.0.0.0
Description: NuSphere PhpEd Setup
Copyright: Copyright 2000,2008 NuSphere Corp.

Version Information
Element Name: File Version | Value: {empty}
Element Name: Company | Value: NuSphere Corp.

It's possible. But if we follow your suggestion, it will confuse too. Indeed, same instance will be shown differently in different contexts. While you're in the parent methods, you'll see private properties but as soon as you go out of those methods, private properties will _disappear_. Same goes to the protected properties. They are not accessible out of the class or its successors' scopes.

Oh, OK. That makes sense.

But from my perspective as a programmer the tooltips, local window and imediate window seem inconsistant. Some show undefined, some show '1'. I think they should all show undefined.

It's because this value is in the parent class and debugger sees it. Try to assign $this->x with a value and you'll see _new_ x property created and debugger will show you two properties with the same name x. Debugger just shows you how php works internally.

I understand how private variables work.

I don't understand why the IDE shows $this->x as 1 and not undefined. We both agree it should be undefined. Why is the IDE telling me it has value '1'?

Even though debugger showed you that property in the Locals, still it is not accessible from an instance of woot class.
PLEASE check the sample shown in the php manual. It is almost the same as yours and private property gives "not defined" too. It's intended behaviour of php. Nothing else.

Here is the code (php5):

Put a break on the "print $this->x;" line.

When you hover over $this the tooltip is 'x=1', when you hover over the "->x" the tooltip is "$this->x = undefined"

In the imediate window:

print $this->x;
: Error Undefined property: woot::$x

In the 'locals' window click on the "+" next to this, it shows that $this->x == 1

I'm not sure what should happen in this situation, but if the tooltip had "You are trying to access a private member" would be helpful.

If all the windows showed the same thing it'd be better.

I find this error a lot when exploring PEAR and other peoples code.

sorry but I tried that and clicking on the yellow popup doesn't do anything. In fact the cursor is a 4arrow to move this window
So the only way to make it disappears is to click outside of it which is imposible as the yellow one covers the full PHPed

I'm not sure how your projects/web servers and repository are organized, but I don't see any reason to use upload/publishing in your case. Suppose, you have local web server for your development. In this case you can store your project files directly in its root directory (or one of subdirs) and develop/test all the scripts in place. It's also where you can update repository from.
